Unit 4.3 - Modelling Fate & Behaviour of HNS Spills
The numerical modelling software (and associated source code) for fate and behaviour of chemical substances at sea is a challenging scientific aspect, usually not open and freely available for the public. MOHID model is an exception. MOHID Water Modelling System is a complex numerical lab used for several different water-related purposes, started by Prof. Ramiro Neves at Instituto Superior Técnico / Lisbon University (initially, only focused in hydrodynamic aspects). HNS spill model was recently developed and integrated in MOHID by Rodrigo Fernandes. This MOHID HNS model is the modelling engine behind MARINER platform.
